At the 31st China Plant Protection "Double Trade Fair" held, relevant personnel revealed the review of the pesticide market in 2015 and the outlook for the pesticide market in 2016——

The characteristics of the 'Xiao Nian' in 2015 are obvious

Plant protection recovered 104 million tons of grain losses

The occurrence area of diseases, pests, grass and rodents in China is 6.697 billion mu, with a control area of 8 billion mu. It has recovered 104 million tons of grain loss, 1.1607 million tons of cotton loss, 3.4685 million tons of oil loss, 17.6628 million tons of fruit tree loss, and 50.5262 million tons of vegetable loss.

The pesticide industry presents the characteristics of "small years"

Affected by multiple factors such as increasing pressure on safety and environmental protection, increasing costs, weak demand in both international and domestic markets, and restrictions on the use of highly toxic pesticides, the pesticide industry as a whole is showing a trend of low prices. Overall, pesticide companies have entered a period of low profit and breakeven.

Decreased pesticide usage

The use of old varieties of insecticides is showing a downward trend, while the use of amides and neonicotinoids is showing an upward trend. The mixed use of fungicides is accelerating in some regions. The increase in the use of insecticides and fungicides in the form of seed coating agents is accelerating. The overall solution for crop health in Northeast China is on the rise in large farms and specialized cooperative organizations.

2016 Competition for New Growth Points

National pesticide demand is expected to decrease by 6.18% in 2016

The total demand for pesticides (commodity volume) in China in 2016 is expected to be 961700 tons, or 304800 tons per hundred, a decrease of 6.18% compared to the previous year. The varieties with a demand of over 10000 tons are (in descending order): glyphosate, dichlorvos, copper sulfate, acetochlor, atrazine, carbendazim, chlorpyrifos, and daisens.

Seed treatment agents will become new growth points

The total demand for insecticides is showing a downward trend, with significant structural adjustments. It is expected that the total demand for insecticides will be 103700 tons, a decrease of 5.21% compared to the previous year. The demand for acaricides, fungicides, herbicides, plant growth regulators, and rodenticides has decreased, and seed treatment agents have become new growth points.

Efficient pesticide spraying machinery ushers in a spring of development

With the continuous transfer of rural labor and the deepening of land transfer, new types of family farms and large farmers will continue to emerge. Due to the increase in labor costs, it is difficult to hire specialized unified prevention and control organizations, and the application machinery has become the biggest bottleneck limiting their development. They are eager to have faster and more efficient application machinery. The government will also actively promote efficient plant protection machinery, increase government subsidies and procurement efforts.
