According to the National Agricultural Technology Center and relevant experts, the overall occurrence of early rice diseases and pests is expected to be more severe this year, similar to normal years, with an area of 310 million mu per occurrence. Among them, the main pests are rice planthopper, rice leaf roller, and rice stem borer, with an area of 220 million mu per occurrence; The diseases mainly include rice blast, rice sheath blight, and rice virus disease, with an area of 90 million mu per occurrence.

It is expected that rice planthoppers will occur heavily in the rice areas of South China, Jiangnan, and Southwest China, with large outbreaks in some areas and moderate outbreaks in the rice areas of the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River, covering an area of 88 million mu per occurrence; The rice leaf roller occurs moderately in most of South China, Jiangnan, and the middle reaches of the Yangtze River, with a local emphasis, covering an area of 67 million mu per occurrence; Chilo suppressalis occurs extensively in the middle reaches of the Yangtze River, with some rice areas in the southern and northern parts of South China being particularly affected, with an area of 49 million mu per occurrence; The occurrence of the rice borer in southern China is relatively mild, with moderate occurrence in some areas, covering an area of 9 million mu per occurrence; Other pests such as the giant borer have occurred to a certain extent in some rice areas, with an area of 20 million mu per occurrence. The commonly used pesticides for controlling rice planthoppers are imidacloprid, pyrazidone, and thiazidone. The pesticides for controlling rice leaf roller are avermectin, chlorpyrifos, and chlorpyrifos. The pesticides for controlling rice stem borer and rice stem borer are imidacloprid, triazophos, and chlorpyrifos. The pesticides for controlling rice stem borer are chlorpyrifos.

Sheath blight is particularly severe to severe in rice areas in southern China, Jiangnan, and the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River, with an area of 65 million acres affected; Rice blast disease occurs moderately in southern China, Jiangnan, and southwestern rice regions, and some susceptible varieties may have a tendency to become more prevalent, with an area of 15 million acres affected; The southern rice black stripe dwarf disease still poses a serious threat in some rice regions of South China, Jiangnan, and Southwest China; Other diseases such as rice bacterial blight and rice seedling disease have occurred to a certain extent in some rice areas, with an area of 9 million acres. The commonly used pesticides for the control of rice sheath blight include azoxystrobin, hexazole, feniconazole, and jinggangmycin.

According to the prediction of the National Climate Center, during the flood season (June August) this year, there will be more precipitation along the southern and eastern coasts of China, and the temperature in the southern part of South China will be lower than usual, which is conducive to the spread of rice diseases and the migration and reproduction of "two migration" pests. Most of southern China, Jiangnan, and the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River have slightly less precipitation and slightly higher temperatures, which are conducive to the occurrence and reproduction of borers and to some extent, not conducive to the occurrence of "two migration" pests and rice diseases such as rice blast and sheath blight. However, the number of typhoons landing in China during the flood season is close to normal, and the active typhoons in the early stages of the flood season are more favorable for the northward migration process of "two migration" pests.
